About The Teachers

Hi everyone,

My name is Kathie Johnson. I am a graduate of Florida State University

with degrees in Anthropology and History and a minor in English. After working

in the field of archaeology for ten years as a zooarchaeologist, I decided to

"take a break" and had two kids. A circular route, including stops to live in

North Carolina, Colorado, and Massachusetts led me back to Pensacola, where I

have been teaching for 18 years. While at Montessori I have taught both in the

9-12 classroom (5 years) and in Middle School (14 years). I hold a Master's

degree in Education as well as my Montessori certification at the Secondary I

level (Middle School).

My daughter, a graduate of UNF, is currently teaching piano to elementary students in Jacksonville.  My son is also out in the "real"

world working on boats, having earned his Captain's license last year. In his

spare time, he enjoys rock climbing and sailing. My hobbies include reading,

photography, and gardening.

Hello Parents and Students!

I am very pleased to have the opportunity to introduce myself to you. My name

is Anne Byers and I am thrilled to be a part of the Montessori School of

Pensacola family. You will find me in the middle school class busy teaching,

discovering, learning and helping in the areas of math and science.

I am Canadian and hold a Bachelor of Science, First Class Honors, degree in

Civil Engineering. I have worked for 10 years applying math and science concepts in the field of

Offshore Oil Exploration. Through the State of

Florida Department of Education, I am certified to teach mathematics grades 6

to 12.

What I love most about teaching is that 'Ah-Ha' moment of understanding!

I look forward to an exciting year of Montessori.

Sincerely,

Anne Byers
